CINa: a CASE OF WORMS & A TERRIBLE TEMPER

When I first met this 8-year-old boy, his mum was feeling really desperate.

His tantrums were explosive and unpredictable, and with a recent move to a new school and his parents separating, the emotional strain was spilling out at home. While he kept things together at school, it was a different story at home with his mum and siblings.

One recent incident had left his mum shaken, he’d slammed a door on his younger brother’s hand so hard it resulted in a hospital visit and a fractured finger. His mum described the act as completely unprovoked, and said it was just one example of many moments that left her feeling desperate and overwhelmed.

Things were at their worst at night, he had frequent nightmares, sometimes calling out in sleep and often woke up after slightly wetting the bed.

His appetite was huge—especially for carbs, mum felt like he never properly filled up yet he stayed thin and I noticed he was pale, with darkish circles under his eyes.

He had occasional sneezing fits and nose irritation his mum described as “allergy-like.” She also mentioned a past history of recurrent worms, though none had been seen recently.

One detail that his mum mentioned that struck me was his strange habit of lying on the floor and rocking side to side during tantrums, as if he found comfort—or even pleasure—in the motion. He also showed aggression toward his siblings over small disagreements, and as I saw him on a home visit,  I noticed he compulsively crushed ants on the patio as we spoke.

Taking in the whole picture—his explosive but not always triggered temper, past worm infestations, restless nights, aggression without remorse, and pale, unhealthy appearance, I prescribed Cina, a homeopathic remedy traditionally used for children with gut imbalances, worms, and intense behavioural symptoms.

When I saw him five weeks later, the transformation had already begun.

Within four days of starting the remedy, he passed a large number of worms in his stool. A few days later, he developed a fever and a heavy cold—his immune system kicking into gear. After that, his mother said he began to look healthier: more colour in his face, a bit more robust in his energy. There were a couple more episodes of visible worms in his stool, then the tantrums that had once disturbed  the whole  household simply stopped.

He still felt angry and impatient with his siblings—but crucially, he hadn’t lashed out physically at all since taking the remedy. The intense, body-rocking meltdowns were gone. He was eating less, but looked healthier and less thin. His thirst had increased, and the small nighttime wettings stopped—though he had two heavier bedwetting episodes before it resolved completely.

Over the following months, I supported his system with two additional remedies. Within seven months, his overall health had shifted significantly. No more nightmares, no bedwetting, no signs of worms, and no aggressive outbursts. His mum described him as still fiery at times, but no longer out of control. He was sleeping better, playing more sport, and his allergy symptoms had completely disappeared in the last two months.

This case wonderfully illustrates how homeopathy can help bring balance to a child’s system—not by suppressing symptoms, but by supporting the body’s ability to heal from the inside out. Cina was a key part of that journey, not just addressing worms, but calming the nervous system and softening intense emotional patterns. What really struck me after this boy took the Cina, was he was able to tell me himself about his anger towards his siblings and not just act aggressively on impulse.

If your child struggles with intense behaviours, gut imbalances, or recurring issues like worms, bedwetting, or nightmares, homeopathy may offer a deeper level of support. Every child’s case is different, and lasting results often come from individualised treatment.
